  • Happiness trip for MP govt staff, all expenses paid

  • The Madhya Pradesh government evidently believes happiness begins at home. It has started sending its employees on an all-expenses paid trip — to learn to be happy.

  • The first batches have been to ‘Anand Shivir’ courses in Coimbatore and Bengaluru.  Rs 20,000 per person. MP’s happiness department — the only one of its kind in the country — has an annual budget of Rs 4.5 crore, and plans to send 100 employees every month to these Shivirs, incurring an expense of Rs 20 lakh per batch. The department has tied-up with three foundations for the scheme, which is open to all government employees, irrespective of age, department or class. They can register online and attend the Anand Shivirs; all they need is an NOC from the department head. The government is also in the process of developing a ‘happiness index’ to evaluate just how happy people are in Madhya Pradesh.
