Madhya Pradesh govt to present e-budget on March 1
The Chouhan government will present e-budget, a paperless document, this year for the first time in the state assembly on March 1. MLAs will not get hard copies of the budget, instead will be given tabs to read the proposals and department schemes. In 2019, pen-drives were given to MLAs along with the budget copies.
The preparation for the state budget is almost complete and officials are busy giving it the final shape. Officials said that the e-budget would be presented in the House, but for regular reference throughout the year, books of the departmental budget will also be published.
The state budget this year was likely to be of around Rs 3 lakh crore, while the last year’s budget was over Rs 2.79 lakh crore. Officials said it is likely to go up by ten percent. Being an election year, the budget would have announcements for women and farmers. Another area that would be in focus of the state government would be capital expenditure on the lines of the Union budget.
