Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award Presented To Dr Randeep Guleria

The 22nd Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for excellence is awarded to Dr Randeep Guleria.

Highlights:

Dr Randeep Guleria is a Pulmonologist and Director of the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences (Aiims).

The award was presented to Randeep Guleria appreciating his devotion to duty and nurturing the Department of Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Disorders in AIIMS.

His role in creating awareness about the pandemic in recent times has been reassuring and soothed the frayed nerves of every person who has heard him speak on multiple forums on various aspects related to COVID 19.

Draft Regional Plan-2041 Approved By NCR Planning Board

The national capital region planning board (NCRPB) has approved the Draft Regional Plan-2041.

Highlights:

It had been approved at e 41st meeting of NCRPB, which was held on 13 October under the chairmanship of the Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri.

The Plan also lays a key specializes in multi-modal connectivity across NCR through air, road, rail and inland waterway connectivity.

It proposes 30-minute connectivity through super-fast trains within significant cities of NCR also proposes to explore the feasibility of a half-hour Mass Transit Rail System from nearest NCR boundaries to Delhi.

Covaxin Approved For Emergency Use In 218-Year-Olds

Bharat Biotechs Covaxin vaccine is approved for emergency use for 2 to 18 years olds by The Subject Expert Committee.

Highlights

In September, the phase 2 and 3 trials of Covaxin happed, and reports were submitted to the Drugs and Comptroller General of India (DCGI) in October.

The trials suggested that the safety and immunity of the Covaxin are almost as same in children aged 2-18 years, as it is in adults above 18-years of age.

The Covaxin, also known as BBV15, is an inactivated virus-based COVID-19 vaccine developed by Bharat Biotech with the Indian Council of Medical Research (Icmr).

Indian To Join Phase II Multilateral Maritime Exercise Malabar

India is set to join the second Phase of the Multilateral Maritime Exercise with Japan, Australia and the United States.

Highlights:

The Quadrilateral exercise begins on 12 October in the Bay Of Bengal and ends on 15 October.

The exercise will build synergic coordination between the nations and enhance interoperability.

The Exercise focuses on advanced surface and anti-submarine warfare exercises, seamanship evolutions, and weapon firings.

What started as an annual bilateral naval exercise between India and the US in 1992, Malabar comprises a series of exercises with increasing scope and complexity over the years.

The 25th edition of Malabar is conducted in two phases now following all COVID 19 Protocols.

Henley Passport Index 2021 Released

The Henley passport index 2021 was published recently by Henley and Partners, and India ranks 90th position in the list.

Highlights:

Henley Passport Index ranks the most travel-friendly passports of all the countries, and India has been ranked 90th.

Henley Passport Index ranks the passports of nations based on the number of destinations their holders can visit without getting a visa in advance.

Rankings are decided by analysing the international Air Transport Association (IATA) data.

India was at 84th position in 2020. But in 2021, its position has decreased to the 90th position.

International Day For Disaster Risk Reduction Is Recognized On 13 October

International Day For Disaster Risk Reduction is Witnessed On 13 October by the united nations.

The Day is commemorated to acknowledge the progress of reducing disaster risk and losses in lives, livelihoods and Health.

Theme for 2021 focuses on International cooperation for developing countries to reduce their disaster risk and disaster losses.

The Year 2021 guarantees to be a make or break year when delivering on the policy agenda agreed in 2015.

The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction plans seven clear targets and four priorities for action to prevent new and reduce existing disaster risks

The Frame was adopted at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai, Japan, on 18 March 2015.

World Arthritis Day Is Observed On 12 October

World Arthritis Day is commemorated on 12 October to boost awareness about arthritis.

Highlights:

Arthritis, an inflammatory condition that causes joint pain and stiffness that will worsen with age.

This was started by Arthritis and Rheumatism International (ARI) in 1996 to spread awareness about arthritis and encourage policymakers to reduce the burden of arthritis.
